PAIN RELIEF AND PALLIATIVE CARE SOCIETY
Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society was founded in 2007 by a group of Doctors mainly from MNJ Government Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad and a few volunteers with the aim of providing palliative and end of life care to patients with end stage diseases like cancer etc. This was the time when no such services were available in Hyderabad and then state of Andhra Pradesh.
Today, we are among the largest palliative care service providers in the region offering outpatient, home care and in-patient services for such patients. We have more than 70 dedicated and highly trained staff consisting of Doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, and pharmacist, nursing aids, cleaners, drivers and supporting staff provide care working in our various programs.
From humble beginning of supporting the newly established palliative care program in MNJ Cancer Hospital, the society started its first home care van in the year 2008. The home care program has progressively become one of largest such program in Hyderabad with five vans visiting and caring for more than 300 patients at any point of time in their homes.
A 21-bed hospice named Kumudini Devi Hospice was started in August 2013 providing holistic palliative and end of life care. The hospice also provides food for the patient and the caregiver apart from medical care.
The society also a unique pediatric palliative care program for children with cancer in MNJ Cancer Hospital and children with other life limiting conditions in Niloufer Government Children’s Hospital, Hyderabad.
All our services are offered entirely free of cost as most of our patients belong to the poor and marginalized sections of the populace. Funds are raised from philanthropist, individual donors both big and small and from corporates through their CSR schemes.
